The Tsomoriri / Korzok to Kibber trek is a Challenging trek that starts from Tsomoriri Lake towards Korzok and ends at Kibber. This trek takes around 9 days. The highest point in this trek is Parang La(5490m). The pass has prayer flags and the other side is dry and very steep descent. The scenery dramatically changes after crossing the Parang la, from steep gorges to broad plains. Before the road connectivity between Spiti and Ladakh, Parang La Pass was one of the most important trekking routes that connected Spiti to Ladakh. Throughout history, the Parang la trek was also an important trekking route between the people of Spiti, Changthang and Tibet. This trek follows an ancient trade route between Ladakh and the Lahaul-Spiti district. Despite the high altitude (always above 4500m), this trek is relatively easy and the view from the Parang La (5578m) is fantastic.

After breakfast, we start driving to Tsomoriri Lake via Chumathang. This is the initial part of our trial, giving us an overview of the Leh Ladakh environment. After 5 hrs ride, we will reach TsoMororiri Lake where we have planned overnight in Camp at Korzok camping.

This day you will walk from Korzok to another end of the Lake with a few ups and downs. Overall it is a different walking day with a similar experience of walking on the beach. The difference in walking here is the narrow tails mostly rocky and sand sometimes, which will be completed in 5 hrs. There are maximum chances of spotting wild ass in this area. The Camping site is just at the end of the Lake, before the river camp.

This day is again an easy walk on the flat ground to NurbooSumdo. You will have to wet your feet as soon as you leave camp. Pass through spring (ChumikSharte) and the campsite is a deep ground near the river and spring. You can also camp at Skitpodangsa on the other side of the Parangchu but the water level can be high in the afternoon if you are trekking in the month of early August or July.

If you camp at NurbooSumdo don’t forget to carry sandals with you for the water crossing. The river is full of small pebbles, which hurts your feet without sandals. After crossing the river you will walk south for the next few days. Gradually you walk along the river to reach Getpabuzak which is just 5-6 hrs away. The camping site is just after small ups and downs.

This day is again straightforward walking along the river on the rolling plateau before the Valley widens. Keep walking in the same direction along the river for 4-5 hrs and the campsite is near the river with a small spring. It is a nice camping area.

Today again you will remain in the same valley and ascend of the Parangla starts from Kharsagongma. If you are in big group its ideal to camp at Kharsagongma as there is space for only a few tents. Otherwise, continue walking to the base Camp of Parangla Pass.

Cross the river immediately after leaving the Camp. Take the trail from your left-hand side and the right side of the glacier. Start walking towards the southeast and after around 3 hours of walking you can see colourful prayer flags flapping at the top of the Pass. Take the steep descent to the campsite near a huge rock and the waterfalls from it. But at the end of September and October, water dries up, therefore you have to carry water from the Parang base.

It’s vertical walking down to the Parangchu and remains walking at the same level along the Paranghu to the east for some time before you take another exhausting Climb to Thangltak. Thangltak has a very nice campsite with a wonderful view of the mountains and spring water. It is a total 5-6 hrs trek for today.

Take the straight trail towards the east with a gentle ascend. From the highest point, you will walk for 3 hrs steeply down to the bridge with a few zigzag trails. Cross the bridge and reach.

Pick up by car to Manali via Kunzum pass, explore the Chandratal lake and drive towards Manali via atal tunnel.

Take a Volvo bus to New Delhi.
